{"id":1561,"date":"2017-05-02T18:25:58","date_gmt":"2017-05-02T18:25:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.photostudy.co\/welcome\/?p=1561"},"modified":"2023-10-05T07:49:07","modified_gmt":"2023-10-05T07:49:07","slug":"chat-safety-protocol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.photostudy.co\/?p=1561","title":{"rendered":"Chat Safety Protocol"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Use this document to know what to do when a student states that they are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Under 13 years old<\/li>\n<li>Planning to commit suicide<\/li>\n<li>Involved or planning to engage&nbsp;in criminal activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>What you should do if a student explicitly says they they are in Grade 6 or below OR below age 13:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide your Expert ID for the Safety team to investigate by emailing&nbsp;Safety@gotitapp.co<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>What you should do if they encounter a student who is going to commit suicide:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Judging behavior based on their sessions posts is a challenge, but there are potential warning signs or indicators for self-harm or suicide. Below are questions to ask yourself to help assess if another user is feeling suicidal:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Has this person specifically noted that they intend to harm themselves<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Has posted an attachment that implies self-harm or harming others?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019ve assessed the situation, and know the person involved, encourage him or her to seek professional help. If, on the other hand, you don\u2019t know the person involved, you may still contact them to express concern or refer him or her to a counselor, a suicide hotline, or someone who might know them better.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide your Expert ID for the Support team to investigate by emailing&nbsp;Safety@gotitapp.co<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;and providing all relevant information<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Safety team will reach out and provide <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crisistextline.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">resources<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the individual student<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>What you should do if they encounter a student who is involved, says they will be involved or mentions illegal activities:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do not engage the student in regard to the activities<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide your Expert ID for the Support team to investigate by emailing Safety@gotitapp.co<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and providing all relevant information<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Got It!
